Valdemar L. Washington

Val

Valdemar (Val) L. Washington is a retired circuit court judge from the Genesee County Circuit Court. He is the founder of SETTLEmate® Inc., a consulting and dispute resolution company.

 

During his more than three decades of public and private service, Val has served as a Visiting Judge to the Michigan Court of Appeals (1988 and 1995) and Chief Judge of the Genesee County Circuit Court (1990 – 1992). In 1998 Washington was appointed Special Master for the Detroit Edison Company in a private sector assignment. Washington’s experience includes a three-year appointment (2007 – 2010) as State of Michigan Deputy State Treasurer for Local Government Services. During this appointment Washington was charged with selection, training, and recommending placement of Emergency Financial Managers under Public Act 72 of 1990. Between April 2011 and December 31, 2011 Washington was appointed by the State Court Administrator’s office as the interim Chief Judge for the 22nd District Court in Inkster, Michigan.

 

In April 2012, Washington returned to the private practice of law as an accountability lawyer in Flint, Michigan where he practices law today.

Washington is an active American Arbitration Association Panel member.  

Gladys L. Christopherson

Gladys

Gladys L. Christopherson is a retired Assistant Prosecuting Attorney from Genesee County Circuit Court. She has over 28 years experience as an attorney handling felony and misdemeanor criminal cases, Extraditions and other Inter-State Fugitive and Witness proceedings, Civil Forfeitures and Paternity, Support and Parenting Time cases. She specialized in prosecuting Embezzlement, Child Sexually Abusive Material, and Vulnerable Adult Abuse cases. She is the only local prosecutor to complete an International Extradition, that took from 1986 to 2017 to complete and bring to trial. During her decades in the prosecutor’s office she also argued multiple cases in the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court.

In April 2018, she began the private practice of law as an accountability lawyer in Flint, Michigan where she practices law today.
